There are many options: trekking, kayak, inflatable boat. It all depends on the level of adventure, effort or relaxation you want to experience in order to get there. The simplest solution is to rely on an organized maritime transport system, which allows you to reach Mariolu and other iconic beaches without turning the day into a test of endurance.

From a geographical point of view, Cala Mariolu, located in the central stretch of the Gulf of Orosei, is easier to reach by sea than by land. Departures take place mainly from Cala Gonone, but also from other ports in the gulf such as La Caletta, Arbatax or Santa Maria Navarrese.
The boats follow the coastline, stopping at several coves. The journey is always a panoramic navigation among caves, natural arches and vertical cliffs. Once you arrive, you disembark directly onto the beach, with stops that vary depending on the chosen service.
This solution is ideal for families, for those with limited time or for anyone who wants to focus on the beach without facing a demanding trek.
Departures take place from the port of Cala Gonone starting at 08:30. The boats follow a coastal route with scheduled stops at the different coves: Cala Luna, Cala Sisine and Cala Mariolu. You can choose whether to make a single stop or combine several beaches in the same day, depending on return schedules.
The system is designed to be flexible: you get off, enjoy the cove and board the next boat. No rush, no obligation to stay together with a group. Think of it as a sea tram, not a guided tour.
This approach turns the sea into a road, making the service particularly suitable for families, couples and independent travellers who want to manage their time freely.
Regardless of the means chosen, the best time to arrive is early in the morning. The light is softer, the sea more stable and visitor numbers are still limited. During the summer months, the central hours of the day are the busiest.
The Cala Gonone Maritime Transport Consortium was formed by the union of the historic operators of Cala Gonone. The goal is not to sell a “constructed” experience, but to guarantee regular, reliable and clear connections to the most renowned coves of the gulf.
You board, sail along the coast and get off where needed. No forced itineraries, no entertainment, no compressed schedules.
It is a simple and direct way to visit places such as Cala Luna, Cala Mariolu, Cala Sisine and Cala Goloritzé, leaving the sea to connect what the land keeps apart.
